Advancing Global Vaccine Science: The 2024 ISV Annual Congress in Seoul

Submitted by admin on Thu, 02/29/2024 - 21:01

Dear ISV Members, Colleagues, and Friends,

We are thrilled to announce that the International Society for Vaccines (ISV) Annual Congress returns to Asia, October 21-23, 2024 at the Dragon City Hotel, Seoul, Korea. The International Vaccine Institute (IVI), established by the United Nations Development Programme is partnering with ISV for this important event.  The 2024 ISV Annual Congress welcomes vaccinologists from all disciplines of human and veterinary prophylactic and therapeutic vaccination and immunotherapy. Participants come from every discipline, including basic research, development, regulatory issues, manufacturing, and epidemiology and from all sectors, whether academic, industrial, governmental or non-governmental institutions.

The ISV Scientific Committee designs a program that includes prominent speakers covering topics of global interest and importance, while also selecting a high percentage of talks from submitted abstracts. ISV is very committed to opportunities for establishing collaborations and for career development. Sessions include ample time for questions, discussions, and meeting colleagues whether informally or to discuss posters and oral presentations.

Seoul provides a prime location for the 2024 ISV Congress because of the incredible investments into vaccine development made by the Korean government and many companies building on the deep foundations of research into infectious diseases, immunology, and platforms for stimulating and regulating immune responses. The Dragon City Hotel, which has convention facilities within the hotel is also optimally located, in the heart of Seoul. It is in the Yongsan district, close to many popular landmarks, and is conveniently directly connected to Yongsan train station, Korea’s largest subway and railway station. Transportation to the hotel from Incheon International airport is convenient and affordable, and the Seoul subway system for those interested in exploring Seoul, is very easy for foreigners to navigate.                  .

An attractive attribute is inclusion of a high percentage of speakers selected from submitted abstracts, in addition to the invited keynote speakers. The Congress will provide an excellent opportunity to expand your horizon in vaccines.

Special efforts are made to help trainees and early career researchers advance their careers with a career development panel discussion, feedback of poster presentations by senior scientists, and ISV’s mentoring program. In addition, the Bright Sparks sessions are juried competitions providing an excellent opportunity to showcase the research and presentation skills of post-docs and younger researchers.

The ISV Annual General Meeting is held as part of the Annual Congress to determine key ISV policies and elect members of the ISV Board. Participation in the ISV is an excellent way to increase your scientific network and visibility.

ISV also has been successful in attracting funding to provide grants to facilitate attendance for scientists from lower- and middle-income countries as well as trainees and early career researchers.

Join us in Seoul, October 21-23, 2024 for the ISV Congress. The ISV Congress website will contain additional information about abstract submission, housing, travel awards, and the virtual option for those unable to attend in person.

And remember that ISV members receive a $100 discount from the registration fees. Or join at the time of registration, to benefit from this discount.

Sincerely,

2024 Congress Co-Chairs:
